The Driving Force Behind Eckman, Strandness & Egan

Steve Eckman is an admired trial attorney, author, and national lecturer. He is respected by lawyers, judges, and legislators throughout the country. His legal career, for more than 30 years now, has been spent as a trial specialist in personal injury and wrongful death law. Steve has a long record of legal successes, and he's helped draft laws and rules relating to dram shop law and farm machinery accidents.

Steve's energy sets the tone for the entire firm, and his well-established expertise is applied to every case we handle.

Steve was an honors graduate from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. He earned his law degree at the University of Minnesota in 1972. That same year, he was admitted to the Minnesota Bar. He has been admitted to Federal Courts in many states, and has tried scores of cases in State and Federal Courts around the country.

Since then, Steve has amassed a long and impressive list of accomplishments. He is a past president and board member of the Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a former board member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) and in 1998 was named an ATLA Stalwart. He has served on the ATLA budget, elections, and rail safety committees, and he served several terms on ATLA's national ethics committee (often as its chair).

He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, which certified him as a Civil Trial Specialist, as did the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is admitted to argue cases before Federal Courts in several states, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has argued cases before Courts of Appeals, state Supreme Courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Steve is active in community service, politics, his church, and he volunteers his time as a teacher and lecturer to schools and colleges.
